Language & Knowledge Engineering

Faculty of Computer Science BUAP

Scientific research for the future...

The Language & Knowledge Engineering Lab is a group of selected members with the aim of exchanging scientific results and experiences, as well as sharing new knowledge, and increasing the co-operation between research groups in language processing and related areas.

As a research group we actively participate in several activities associated with the generation of new knowledge:

- Theses: We supervise bachelor, master and PhD theses all around the year.
- Research Projects: We elaborate and execute research projects, mainly funded by the ministry of science and technology of mexico (CONACyT), but also funded by enterprises.
-Education: We participate actively in different programs (bachelor, master and PhD) of our university teaching the students about topics related with the ones cultivated in our research group.
-Publication of papers: Our members are very productive publishing papers in conferences and journals of high reputation.
-Dissemination of Science: We continuously organize scientific tours with the aim of bringing the technology of our lab to the most remote communities of all around the country.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

The LKE Research group is interested in two major topics:

Language Engineering

This topic is related with those technologies that make it possible to create tools aiming to help human beings to use computational media without abandon the regular use of natural language as an interaction and information exchange medium.

More information

Knowledge Engineering

This topic is a modern discipline part of artificial intelligence aiming to design and develop expert sytems (or knowledge-based systems). It is supported by instructional methodologies, computer science and information technologies.

PhD in Language and Knowledge Engineering

The Doctorate in Language and Knowledge Engineering (LKE) is focused on training researchers with a critical and interdisciplinary profile who are capable of performing basic and applied research to produce new knowledge about the problems associated with language engineering. and of knowledge. Based on this, high-level professionals are trained able to insert themselves efficiently in the productive, academic or research sector where they can apply the skills and knowledge acquired.
